We all have those moments where a last minute guest is due to show up any second but there just wasn’t enough time in the morning to give the place a full sprucing up. No matter if you’re prepping for a guest or lifting your own mood, it can always be nice to freshen up your living space quickly and effectively.
Whether you’re using these tips to bring a little boost to your own environment or dusting off for an impromptu party, there are a couple little things that you can do in just a few minutes to bring some life into your home.
Let the Light In
One of the simplest ways to brighten up a room is to open the windows. You can get a view of the day’s sunny rays or watch the beautiful rain outside. Natural light makes spaces look bigger and more cheerful. It’s a simple way to achieve a happier overall tone in your home.
Control the Clutter
A sprint to pick up the clutter might not seem like the most fun, but it can do wonders for the aesthetic of your home. Clearing the clutter off of your home’s many surfaces will make your house look cleaner and more put-together instantly, allowing the intentional features of your space shine unobstructed.
If you don’t already have one, a catch-all basket or drawer does wonders for those clutter-collecting sprints, as long as it doesn’t stay crowded day after day.
Spruce Up Your Cabinets
Especially in your kitchen, wiping things down can make your space cleaner and brighter instantly. Cabinets are often left out of this, even though they’re usually the most prominent surface in the kitchen. Even taking a moment to properly clean your cabinets can make the whole kitchen appear brighter, cleaner and more put-together.
Find a Little Glow
Decorative light sources bring a warmth to your space that’s both subtle and sweet. Lighting a candle, plugging in a rock salt lamp or switching on some string lights can make your space feel put-together and intentional. Especially if you already have a decorative light source in your home, setting it up to glow can give the essence of care and joy in your decoration.
Make Your Plants Shine
Plants are a lively addition to any home, and what better way to brighten things up than to bring them to the center of your space? If you’re looking for something to make your home greener, brighter and more uplifted, try putting your plants in a more focal role in your décor. It’s the perfect way to make your space feel more natural and happy.
Just make sure they can still catch those rays — if you open your windows, that shouldn’t be too hard!
While it can sometimes feel like home improvement is a long and winding road, you can always find a couple shortcuts. Little things can make a big impression, and taking just a few minutes to focus on the details of your home could bring the pick-me-up you need.
