Bathroom remodeling requires a lot of time, effort, and expense. A bathroom remodel is not something we frequently do. It’s akin to a long-term investment, which is why we must plan it carefully.

However, many of us are not aware of what’s required in remodeling. We end up wasting a lot of our money on poor remodels. Therefore, to utilize your hard-earned money, you must learn bathroom remodeling practices and tips.

Here they are:

1-   Pick Energy-Efficient Features

One of the best investments is energy-efficient objects. Besides being beneficial for the environment, it will be good for your pocket as you will save a ton of money. Pick energy-saving features and notice a long term saving in your electricity bills. Go for energy-saving light bulbs. LED light bulbs are the best choice. They give clear day-light and look best in both small and large-sized bathrooms.

In comparison to traditional lights, you will find LEDs more expensive to purchase. However, they are cheaper in use. You can also use motion detectors, especially if you have kids at home. Just in case if the kids forget to switch off the light, it will turn off automatically.

Similarly, go for the latest water-saving bath showers and toilet seats. Also, consider replacing the bathtubs with showers as they are more energy-efficient. You will find many types of contemporary showers if you look online. Aerated faucets are also an ideal option. They have a top head for spinning water. As a result, the water looks clear and fresh.

Moreover, these faucets are environment-friendly; they provide less water, but due to the spinning head, we feel highwater pressure. The same is the case with modern showers. They come in a sleek design, have a covered head, and they provide a lesser amount of water with more pressure.

Going for a complete remodel doesn’t mean putting in a lot of lights and redoing décor. Smart remodeling is the one that can save your cost in the long run. Ask your contractor to restructure the bathroom in a way that will require fewer lights. A single LED or CFL bulb in the center is enough.

2-   Fix Plumbing Problems

Even a minute plumbing issue can turn into a huge problem. Therefore, never ignore any plumbing problem in your bathroom. Additionally, always go for the best quality material when fixing plumbing errors. Low-quality pipes for bathtub and toilet drains can never give you long-term benefits.

Remember, things having functional value are more important than cosmetic ones. No matter how elegant your bathroom is looking, if it does not have the best quality of functional features, it will require repeated repair.

Even if you are buying the best fixtures, they will always cause a problem because of the plumbing issues behind them. Leakage and pipe bursting problems are very common in bathrooms. Therefore, always go for copper pipes. They are the strongest and the most durable pipes of all. Never go for iron pipes to save a few bucks. They will cost you more in the long-run.

3-   Add Ample Storage

Never hesitate to add more storage in your bathroom. How many additional racks do you have in your washroom? I have a shower caddy and a towel rack in my bathroom, along with a bucket with bathroom essentials. I can’t tell you how many times I have looked at these mismatched things and hoped to get built-in modern storage in my bathroom.

Therefore, my suggestion is to invest in modern storage spaces. You can add more cabinets or ask the designer to fix a ready-made shelf. There should be enough storage for bathrobes, towels, soaps, shampoos, body showers, etc.

Also, consider the quality of wood if you are planning to add cabinets. Once you have added enough storage space in your bathroom, you do not need to invest in the long run. Even if your family size gets increased, you will have sufficient space.

4-   Turn it Into a Spa

When you are done with the functional things, focus on the aesthetics. Why not spend some amount on making your bathroom a perfect place to relax. When you have resources available, spend them wisely and make a smart one-time investment in a perfect restructuring of your bathroom. For this, you need to turn one portion of your bathroom into a spa.

Buy some spa related stuff, change the wall color and flooring, and the bathroom will start giving you a spa feel. For instance, get a Jacuzzi, some essential oils, foot and hand massagers, etc. For flooring, consider porcelain tiles as they are waterproof and best in quality.

Buy some indoor plants, elegant paintings, rugs, and a small music system. Once you have invested in all such things, you can have a relaxing experience in your bathroom.

Additionally, do not forget to buy smart cleaning stuff. Smart machines help in keeping your bathroom in tip-top condition. For instance, buy a portable vacuum for rugs and carpet cleaning. Similarly, toilet cleaning robots are available that clean the seat after every use. You can also look at bathroom spinners. All these things matter a lot when you are remodeling your bathroom to give a spa-like feel.

Wrapping It Up

When you have decided to remodel your bathroom, why not invest in the jobs that can give long-term benefits. For this, firstly consider the functional areas of your bathroom like plumbing issues and fittings.

Once you are done, bring your focus to the aesthetic side. Invest in the best quality floor, consider spacing, and add relaxing stuff. Once you make a good investment, you do not need to worry about frequent repairing expenses.
