Recap: 2011 Alure Design & Planning Show

Each year, during Martin Luther King weekend, we open our showrooms to the public in an effort to display the services we provide as well as offer some useful seminars for families considering home improvement projects. The event is usually very well attended and this year was no different. Here is a recap from the weekend and we hope our readers will provide feedback on things for us to consider for future events.

Going into this year’s event, we looked to provide added value for attendees by coming up with a couple of seminars focused on entertaining in the kitchen. The Appetizer Creations seminar was developed with upcoming Super Bowl gatherings and Valentine’s Day approaching. Felico’s of Farmingdale has been a partner of Alure’s for events that we host and their staff embraced the idea and provided great sessions during Saturday and Sunday for our attendees. They also provided the food that attendees were able to enjoy while attending the show. We have received numerous requests for recipes of the creations that were displayed and will be made available online in the near future.

Along the same line of thinking, we were able to have Joseph Bertuccio of The Wine Show on hand to discuss wine pairing. Many of our kitchen customers look to create an area for friends and family to gather when remodeling their kitchen. The Grapevine was one of the most popular sessions of the weekend as attendees were able to discuss and learn many of the things to consider when choosing a wine. Mr. Bertuccio is also the author of  “Join Me in the Wine World”.

There was also plenty of fun and games, raffles and even a visit from Lucky the Duck of KJOY radio along with Quacker Jack of the Long Island Ducks. Plenty of pictures from throughout the weekend can be found on our Facebook Page as well. If you attended this year’s event we would love to hear your feedback. Please check back for updates on future Alure events as well.
