THE FERRO FOUNDATION INC.

MISSION:

Helping to make a lasting and positive difference in the lives of students, seniors and veterans, while inspiring others to do the same.

The Ferro Foundation is a non-profit corporation developed to help Long Islanders, focusing on, but not limited to, students, seniors and veterans.  The Foundation currently offers two primary programs; an annual Scholarship Fund for Long Island students based on need and academic promise, and a veteran and senior home care program,  which assists Long Island Seniors and Veterans with financial assistance related to housing and health related expenses, or through minor home improvement repairs or modifications. Additionally, the Ferro Foundation assists other not-for-profit agencies supporting similar causes, including but not limited to Farmingdale College Foundation, Nassau Community College, and the United Way.

We also hope to inspire others in our community to get involved and help us all make a collective difference in people’s lives by following the simple TEAM concept… Together Everyone Accomplishes More.

The foundation was started and is led by Alure Home Improvements’ President and CEO Sal Ferro. Sal Ferro has been instrumental in the Long Island Community for decades. He has supported dozens of Long Island philanthropic organizations and single handedly spearheaded one of Long Island’s Largest philanthropic volunteer endeavors.  He inspired thousands of Long Islanders to join Alure as they performed 2 of their 8 episodes for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition right here in Long Island where Sal Ferro and Alure call home.

The Ferro Foundation’s first endeavor upon its inception in 2017, was to create a Scholarship Fund to help Long Island students finance their college education. The Foundation is committed to provide one 4 year scholarship of $2,500 per year to a student who meets certain community and academic qualifications. This program is for a diligent student with high academic standards and strong ties to our community.  If you think you fit that description, the Ferro Foundation would like to help.  After all, there are no shortcuts on the road to success, but there shouldn’t be any stop signs, either. The full scholarship program is outlined here.

Homeowners realize that as homes age, housing repairs and improvements pose a considerable physical and financial burden. For veterans and senior citizens, this burden can pose additional challenges.  The Ferro Foundation’s Home Care Program is dedicated to senior citizens and veterans, in order to help keep them in their homes. This can range from small projects like adding grab bars to the bathroom in order to make it safe to repairs to a roof in order to take care of a leak.

Finding a good contractor to do repairs and improvements on your home is a very important first step. Since the Founder of The Ferro Foundation is also the Owner and President of Alure Home Improvements, you are in good hands!

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

  • Are you on a fixed income and having difficulty maintaining your home?
  • Do you have repairs that need to be made in your home but you not have the means?
  • Are you in need but do not know how to ask for assistance?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please fill out an application here.

“Every little action we take to help someone is worthwhile and hopefully our actions inspire others to get involved as well. A scholarship offering was something I always wanted to do, as I think it’s critical that we continue to invest in our youth to ensure they receive a solid education, and thus provide a better opportunity for them to stay here on Long Island after graduating. The Veteran & Senior Home Repair Program was also a must for me sine we want all generations to be able to stay on Long Island to be close to their family and friends,” says Ferro.

Ferro also backs up his passion with action. In 2013, Ferro put on the gloves and boxed in Long Island’s Fight for Charity as the main event (an event he now hosts annually), in May of 2014, Ferro was honored by the Long Island Association with the Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award for Community Service, and in 2015 Ferro was voted as Long Islands Most Philanthropic Person by Long Island Press Best of the Best.

The board of the Foundation includes Alure’s Director of Marketing Seth Selesnow, Dr. Henry Sikorski of Farmingdale State University of New York, Christopher Ferro, Joe Hatzfeld of Castle Wealth Strategies and Kris Amplo of JC Steel.  100% of all proceeds raised by the foundation go directly towards the needy as no board member or volunteers are paid.
