Designer Bio: Omar Santiago

About:

Omar grew up in Long Island with three older brothers.  He attended Dowling College and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and a Minor in Graphic Design.  Omar has been with Alure Home Improvements for over 16 years.  His open views, creative side and attention to detail make him an asset to the company.  He loves the diversity of working with many different people and cultures.  Omar started with Alure as a design imaging specialist where he helped develop an imaging program to help homeowners seen the vision of their home before they did any work to help avoid any costly mistakes.  He showed them renderings and layout of the exterior of their home to show what it would look like with new siding, windows, roofing, doors and porticos.  His vast knowledge of products really helped the homeowners envision their new curb appeal.  Omar is still a design imaging specialist but he has also taken on the role of exterior designer to help homeowners start their vision and see their dreams become reality.  

3 favorite things:

1. Architectural House Design – From the history to architects.  Omar loves learning and exploring.  

2. Music – He loves to collect various styles and equipment/instruments. 

3. Exercise & Food – Omar loves to cook and then work off what he just made.  Latin food is his favorite cuisine.

Favorite Project:

Omar’s favorite project was done for a couple in Ridge, NY.  They moved from Connecticut to Long Island and bought a house they loved but they wanted to change the exterior.  They disliked the brick and the siding.  They loved the original barn doors for the garage and wanted an equestrian look that was modern and supplicated with some character.  We took the white and black theme and incorporated it throughout the exterior.
