What Photos of a Remodeled Bathroom Don’t Show You
If you’re one of those people who spend a lot of time perusing home bathroom remodeling blogs, looking for inspiration, you probably have seen some pretty ornate photos of some gorgeous remodeled bathrooms. You might have bookmarked your favorite pictures, dog-eared some magazines, and showed your favorites to your family in hopes of one day creating a bathroom that looks as great as the ones in the photographs. But what do those pictures not tell you? As it turns out, a lot.
To be sure, looking at photos of remodeled bathrooms is a great way to find inspiration, determine what you like, and what you don’t ““ and see what the people around you are doing with their homes. Yet, these photos aren’t the be all and end all. For starters, a photograph doesn’t give any context. You don’t know how the bathroom fits with the décor of the rest of the home. Sure it might look great as a standalone room, but bathrooms aren’t separate entities. You want to make sure that your newly remodeled bathroom complements the look and feel of the rest of your house. If you have a warm, traditional country home, you aren’t going to want your bathroom to be obtrusively modern.
Pictures also don’t always capture the little details, the finishing touches that set the bathroom apart and make it distinctly your own. It might not show the unique storage system you can develop within your new bathroom cabinets that will make your life easier, or the custom hardware options that you can use to accentuate the bathroom and make it feel uniquely your own. And, of course, this doesn’t even begin to touch on things that aren’t effectively captured on film at all, like the lighting of the room throughout the day or how the ventilation in the bathroom will be.
So by all means, pore over photos of renovated bathrooms, but just keep proper perspective. And, if you want to learn how your home’s bathrooms can potentially be upgraded, contact bathroom remodeling experts and get firsthand insight.
